If there was a points system like football, I would venture to guess GC would still be the #1 because of who they played. Theres just not a great way to do this, and really theres not a huge difference between who gets #1 and who gets #2. GC didn't get screwed last year because they didn't lose to a team who even made it to the finals.

I completely and totally disagree. The football system requires you to beat somebody that is pretty good to get in, or get a one seed. The biggest wins GC have are over PV and Lebanon while PV has wins over GC, Appy, and Wolfe Co. PV actually had to beat JIB to get into the football playoffs last year, had GC won a game in the Arby's or not lost to Abingdon I might agree. I also think the difference between 1 and 2 is huge, playing Haysi or Lebanon makes a lot of difference in trying to get to the state tournament. Haysi lost to Hurley, PV dropped Hurley by 20 ish.

According to many if you're the best team it doesn't matter, remember all the arguments of those in favor of screwing the 1 seed in football Regions to play on that concrete slab at UVAW?
"They (Miami) told me I wasn't big enough to play running back,'' said Ryan Williams with a snicker. "And they tried to offer me as an athlete or wide receiver."

Yes, and you were one of those. I don't see you arguing to move the games out of Bristol for basketball. You guys were the best team last year and got hurt by the system, you'd think you would want the system to change.

And if you remember, I have voiced my opinion on both venues. I don't like either one. I thought Castlewood got rooked last year by having to play VHS in Bristol for the Region title even though they won by 20+. The top seeds should mean something regardless if it is PV, GC, Castlewood, etc. If GC were to lose and PV make it to the Finals I think it is only right for PV to host (or play on the field/court of their choice). And if I remember correctly that was how it was done in the old Region 4.

    Re: Boys Region D Playoffs

The top half of the D1 boys bracket looks like the Cumberland Invitational. Their guaranteed a state team this year.

I still say its not a perfect system, but to the systems never have been perfect if we were worried about the two best teams making it out of regions. Win and advance is the name of the game.

i think it is so funny, how you guys down our kids in hurley for not being able to play with you guys in the cumberland .do you know our enrollment?do you know we start 4 10th graders?did you know we have hardly any help off the bench.so i think we do pretty good for our size. and no i dont think pound has anything for us .we had them down by like 30 at one point and put the second string in.and still won by almost 20. and the powell valley game was a joke.come play us again.so i think our sophmores did pretty well against you all considering they we still learning.but anyway good luck to you all.i wish we had an enrollment like you.

This is the LPD Forum, not the Cumberland Forum.

    Re: Boys Region D Playoffs

Wasn't Abingdon the second seed in Region IV, Division 4? That's not a bad loss. not sure how many other schools have played a Div. 4 team on their schedule around here

i would love PV to get to play Hurley again, they could use a tune up game before the big boys in D2
